Sparkling rockpools dot the shore in the bay which scoops the viewer's eye around from the rocky trails through the long grass in the foreground to the Kitchener Memorial on Marwick Head in the background. A local landmark, this memorial remembers the lives lost when British Battleship HMS Hampshire sank in June 1916. My painting was commissioned as gift to my client's mother whose house on Orkney enjoys this breath-taking view.
